FAQs
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that we experience every day in the moments just before we fall asleep or wake up. Other examples are when we are deeply engrossed in reading a book or often when we are driving a car along a familiar route, only to reach our destinatoin and wonder how we got there!
What is hypnotherapy?
The process of hypnotherapy is used to guide a client into a state of hypnosis in which it is possible to communicate with the subconscious mind. Old beliefs and behaviours which no longer serve us can begin to change intonew beliefs and and behaviours that do serve us.
A hypnotherapist uses hypnosis as a tool to bring about positive change in a client’s life.
Can hypnosis make me do things I do not want to do?
Essentially, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You retain your ability to act or not to act upon suggestions. Hypnotherapy is not about being under someone’s control but rather taking charge of your own inner thoughts and behaviour to bring about the change you desire.
